Junior Open Week 2009 - get your application in now!
Junior Open Week is coming up fast and applications are now being accepted. The tournament kicks off on July 12th so the closing date for entries is 9th July at 6pm.

Improvements at the club
Details of the improvement plans for the courts and clubhouse in 2009 are outlined on the notices at the club.
Tennis Camp - July 1st to 3rd
Patrick McGrath is running a tennis camp for <10s from Wednesday 1st July to Friday 3rd July. You can submit your name at the clubhouse. The cost is €30 and the camp is run for the morning starting at 10:30am.
Notice to members on ongoing improvements to the club
Following on from the improvements made to the club grounds last year the committee have undertaken to further enhance club facilities in 2009. There are two key projects that have been approved:
1) Improvements to courts
Court 5 is to be completely replaced and a practice area - court 6 - is to be created. This work is to take place the first week of June and for a brief time court 5 will not be available for play.
Members should note that courts 1-4 are due to be inspected in May and work undertaken to improve the surface and prolong the life of these courts until they are fully replaced in 2011/2012.
2) Improvements to clubhouse toilets
The toilets are to be revamped this year. This will include replacement of existing toilets, tiling of the shower area and the creation of an additional toilet. Exact dates for this work are not yet known.
In addition there will be a general clean up undertaken of the areas behind and around the courts in the coming weeks. This is to include spraying for weeds, cutting of hedges, fixing of fencing and painting of the new gates at the entrance to the club.
1st of the summer wine
The 1st of the summer wine night will take place on Saturday 13th June. The evening will kick off at 7:30pm and the fee is €5. This tournament is available for members only. Entries can be made at the clubhouse from June 6th.
American tournaments have started
The weekly Wednesday night tournaments have commenced and will run until the end of August. Start time is 7:30pm and names can be submitted in advance to the clubhouse between 3-6pm or after 6:30pm. Members and non members are welcome.
Ladders will finish up 31st May
The junior, mixed and senior ladders will finish on May 31st and restart in October after the senior club championships have been played.
Summer groundsperson required
The club is currently accepting applications for the post of groundsperson during the Summer months. The role includes maintenance of the courts, the surrounding areas and the clubhouse, i.e. court sweeping, weeding and grass cutting, painting and cleaning of all areas of the clubhouse. In addition the scheduling of courts and supervision of junior members is required.
The position will commence the last week in June and continue until the end of August. The hours are 10am-6pm Monday to Saturday and additional hours will be required during certain competition weeks, e.g. Senior and Junior Open weeks. Job sharing can be arranged.

Easter Camp for Juniors
This year Willie Reynolds will be holding a 3 day Easter Camp for Juniors and you can register your interest in the clubhouse. It starts on Wednesday 15th April and finishes on Friday 17th April. The cost is €30. The camp is split into two sections:
- U10s between 10:30am and 1pm
- 10+ years between 1:30 and 4pm.
President's Day - April 4th
President's Day is to be held on Saturday April 4th. You can submit your name to the whistlestop tournament in the clubhouse. The night kicks off at 7:30pm and includes a BBQ. As no bar service will be run you should BYOB! The entrance fee is €10 and proceeds from the night will go to the Niall Mellon Township Trust, www.irishtownship.com.
